Before the Appointment
When To Schedule Your Appointment?
If you have the chance to schedule a trial appointment, we recommend that!
If not, that’s totally okay! We recommend scheduling your appointment at least 2-3 days before your wedding day. Schedule your appointment when you are able to have some downtime. Be prepared to lounge for at least 6-8 hours without a bra! If you absolutely have to wear a bra after your spray, make sure it’s strapless!
1) Plan your other beauty services: Schedule your dermaplaning or any other facials to be done at least 1-2 weeks before. Schedule your wax/nails/lashes appointment for at least 1-2 days before your spray tan appointment.
2) Make sure you stay OUT of the Sun. Peeling on the chest and back usually occurs about 2 weeks after ANY exposure to the sun. (We’ve been spray tanning brides for a long time and one of the major issues that comes up after spray tanning is all of a sudden they start Peeling on their chest/back.)
3) Start drinking more water daily!
4) If you don’t already exfoliate your skin, start now! Exfoliating your skin is important for the spray tan to adhere properly and fade evenly.
5) Make sure you are moisturizing daily with a hydrating moisturizer!
6) Purchase Cetaphil Body Soap.
1 day Before Your Appointment:
1) Get Your Wax, Mani/Pedi, Lash Appointments Done before your spray tan appointment! If you shave, that should be done at least 1 day in advance to ensure your pores are closed!
2) Exfoliate in the shower the evening before. We recommend using exfoliating gloves and avoiding any oil based scrubs.
3) Prepare a bag to bring with you. Bring loose dark clothing and flip flops to change into after your appointment.
In the Shower
Exfoliate Everything!
We suggest using Cetaphil soap ( Avoid Dove Soap! ) and a pair of exfoliating hand gloves.
Avoid using any oil based scrubs
Exfoliate your face, neck and chest ( These are the areas that we tend to forget the most! )
After showering, Do not apply Lotion or Deodorant.
Do not apply any makeup.
Do not wash/condition your hair right before coming in! (Conditioner on your back can prevent the tan from sticking to your skin.)
If you are coming straight from work, you can put deodorant on after your shower, just let us know so we can give you a baby wipe to remove it! But definitely don’t wear lotion!
During the Appointment
What to wear?
During your tan you can wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Most women go nude or wear panties. We have disposable panties if you prefer to wear those! Or Some women wear full bathing suits, or bikini’s. We want you to be 100% comfortable! .
Men, you have to wear briefs or boxers.
After Your
Appointment
Developing Time:
Depending on the type of blend we selected, you will have to shower either in 2-5 hours or 8-10 hours.
Whichever blend you have received, during the developing time, be sure to avoid sweating or touching water.
Don’t apply any lotion or foundation until your first shower (eye makeup is totally fine! )
Don’t wear any tight fitted clothing until your first shower
Avoid touching your skin. Your palms will pick up the tan that is on your skin and tan the inside of your palms. Be very carefully with touching your skin until your first shower.
If you are scheduling your mani/pedi for the day after, you will have to skip any exfoliating scrub on your hands/feet.
MAINTENANCE:
Moisturize at least 2 times a day and immediately after every shower. Do not use Aveeno, Bath & Body Works lotion, Victoria Secret lotion, etc.
Use a hydrating moisturizer like Hempz Lotion, Cetaphil, Kiehls.
Short warm showers ( avoid hot showers )
Do not use dove soap. Use a gentle soap like Cetaphil
Do not use a washcloth or loofa until you are ready to remove your tan.
